Adil Rashid nearly did the impossible after Chris Woakes' terrific 78 led England to 196 from 8/5. Australia didn't begin well, but looked set to overhaul the below-par total. Just when it seemed like the game would be one-sided, Rashid brought it to life sending back Steven Smith, Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis in quick time.

While Head manned one end safely, Rashid scythed through the others, denting Australia's middle-order. All of a sudden, the target seemed far off. But the newly-promoted opener, Travis Head, ensured that there would be no last minute hiccups as he and Tim Paine took Australia close.
