Sanjay Patel: Can only take a call on Jadeja-Anderson verdict after receiving a copy

Following ICC judicial commissioner Gordon Lewis’ verdict that found England pace bowler James Anderson not guilty of allegedly “pushing and abusing” Ravindra Jadeja during the first of the five match Test series against India, Sanjay Patel, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has said that the board would like to review the detailed copy of the order before deciding on whether or nor to reappeal.

Patel said, "We are expected to receive a detailed copy of the order that was passed by the Judicial Commissioner either by today or tomorrow. We will only be able to take a call in this regard after receiving the order copy. A detailed legal analysis is required before deciding on future course.

“Our legal team will study the report and will give us a feedback. In such cases, every point needs to be studied minutely and it will take some time. So it is premature to conclude whether we will appeal. It will be inappropriate to say that it has been unfair without going through the copy of the judgement. Let us wait for the written copy."

According to the ICC guidelines, only the CEO, that is Dave Richardson, with the approval from the ICC chairman, that is N Srinivasan, has the right to appeal in such cases. According to IBN reports, the BCCI are not likely to proceed forward, despite knowing that the national captain MS Dhoni is livid with Anderson being let off, as there is no compelling evidence to support their case.
