Ajay Shirke, treasurer of BCCI and also the president of MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) is considering the option to resign if the board president N Srinivasan does not make a quick decision regarding his position in BCCI.
He is of the opinion that when BCCI had earlier called emergency meetings even for negligible matters, then why isn’t a meeting being called for, when such a “serious situation” awaits for definite decision making. He also said that if his son-in-law was arrested, then he would have resigned with immediate effect, because, then the integrity of the board would be at stake.
He said, “I’ve already said that. I don’t know about other board officials but I do believe that if they care for their reputation, they’ll also think the way I am doing. Otherwise, go through the trial by the media,” he said.
BCCI hasn’t been operating diligently with the current situation, as a result of which the president is staining his reputation due to his blatant nature towards his resignation.
The board’s treasurer also said, “However, if the board members continue to ignore this, I shall not simply consider resigning.I’ll go ahead and do it.I will never do that, but I simply cannot let my reputation be tarnished. That stands above anything else,”
“I cannot be a bystander, watching all this happen and allow my reputation also to be questioned. I will quit if things are not quickly resolved,” he said.
Srini had called for meetings to discuss matters regarding Deccan Chargers, Pune Warriors and also when three of the Rajasthan Royals players were arrested. Shirke wants Srinivasan to immediately call for a meeting and settle the situation.
