According to media reports, the BCCI working committee did not find any evidence in the spot-fixing scandal against Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra and N Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan.
The reports also claim that BCCI has voted to reinstate N Srinivasan as board president at a Working Committee meeting in Kolkata on Sunday.
N Srinivasan had stepped aside as the president of the BCCI till the investigation into the spot-fixing scandal was completed.
Srinivasan resigned due to an alleged conflict of interest with his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan being arrested on charges of gambling. Now that Mr Meiyappan has been given a clean chit by the BCCI’s internal inquiry, it has cleared the way for Mr Srinivasan’s return.
The two-member internal probe team, consisting of former judges T Jayaram Chouta and R Balasubramanian, has submitted its report to the BCCI, which will be forwarded to the IPL governing council.
BCCI interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya told the media after Working Committee meeting that the governing council is scheduled to meet on August 2 in New Delhi.
