Chris Jordan makes his debut for England

Sussex’s own Chris Jordan impressed with a sound performance yesterday, making his England debut. The 24 year-old earned himself a spot in the side after catching peoples attention with fantastic performances for Sussex this summer, taking 54 wickets for his new side.

The quick seam bowler was given a daunting task in opening the bowling against a formidable Australian batting line-up. However, Jordan did well as he took the wickets of Hughes, Clarke and Faulkner for 51 runs. He was quite expensive giving away 5.1 runs an over, but he’s proved that he can take wickets. This is much like what he has done for Sussex this year – expensive but effective.

Unfortunately, the game didn’t go according to plan for England as they were comfortably beaten by Australia. Australia batted first and posted an enormous 298. England were just never up for the challenge and ended up losing by 49 runs. Jordan made 14 with the bat including 1 four. Sussex’s Luke Wright was also a part of the England team but it was a game to forget for him after he didn’t bowl a ball and then was run out for a duck after only facing one ball.
