New Zealand swashbuckler Corey Anderson has said that he is not worried about the talks of him being the next superstar in the Indian Premier League.
Anderson stated : “There will be speculation and the auction’s coming up soon. But I am focused on this Indian series.”
The Kiwi can bat and bowl too, an ideal player to have in a team, and it will be hard for him to turn down a good IPL contract.
Teams will be hustling to sign the player after his heroics at the end of the year; when he broke Shahid Afridi‘s record of the fastest player to reach the triple figure mark in ODIs by smashing a 36-ball century against West Indies.
Anderson , who was also the man of the match in the first game against India, admitted that it will be impossible to repeat the feat again:
“When you do something like a Queenstown, you are only going to go downhill. So it was nice to come out here and put up a few runs. It was full credit to Kane and Roscoe for putting on that platform. The start makes my job and Ronchi’s job pretty easy.”
The 23-year-old southpaw maintained his good form and scored 50 off just 31 balls with some really clean hitting in the 1st ODI to help his team set a target of 292. He performed well with the ball as well by picking up 2 wickets at an economy rate of 5.10.
