9) Sussex

With Jason Gillespie as their coach, Sussex will look to claim the title and promotion this time around. Gillespie led Yorkshire to Championship promotion and then back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015.

Chris Nash and Steve Magoffin, the pillars of the team, will surely be missed this season. The entire bowling attack now depends on Chris Jordan and the youngster Jofra Archer who will only join them after the IPL. Ishant Sharma, their overseas signing, will look to add value in the first two months of the Championship.

The batting department, although inconsistent in their previous displays, have Luke Wells and Kolpak signing Stiaan van Zyl atop the order. The new captain Ben Brown and their star batsman, Michael Burgess, have a lot of expectations to fulfil.
