Cricket Australia still clueless over mystery tweeter

James Anderson (R) celebrates after taking the controversial wicket of Ashton Agar (L) in the second Ashes Test match at Lord’s

Cricket Australia (CA) are still in the dark over the mystery tweeter, who posted abusive comments on the social networking site using its official account during the second Ashes Test match at Lord’s.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the tweet directed towards a controversial umpiring decision in the Lord’s Test, which read: “That decision sucked a**#bull****” was promptly deleted and investigations are still going on to determine the anonymous tweeter.

CA admitted in a statement posted on their website that they could not get much details on the tweeter or his whereabouts as their analysis revealed some unusual IP addresses from overseas, not from the United Kingdom however.

“Cricket Australia (CA) has been unable to identify the source of the offensive tweet posted to its official account during the course of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s last weekend,” the statement read.

“While Twitter records of users logged in to the account at the time revealed some unusual IP addresses from overseas (not the UK), nothing could be pinpointed.

“Unfortunately Twitter don’t log IP addresses of specific tweets or keep records of deleted tweets so it has been impossible to determine where the tweet was posted from.

“CA has reviewed its security on its social media accounts and put processes in place to minimise the possibility of this occurring again.”
