Sanjay Manjrekar criticized the Indian team management for failing to come up with a set gameplan against the Kiwis, unlike their counterparts who hunted in packs and not in an individual capacity.

Manjrekar explained how Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah were left to fend for themselves as they tried to figure out the right lengths and lines without any help from the senior pros or team management staff.

“Ishant was left to himself to figure out the lines and lengths, Shami too and Bumrah were figuring out a way for themselves. For New Zealand it seems to be more of a teamwork plan, all the bowlers have stuck to this plan of bouncers. The slowness of the pitch and the loop in the bounce has been a problem for the Indian batsmen.”
