World Cup 2015: India won by 76 runs

Defending champions India began their 2015 World Cup quest against Pakistan in Adelaide. MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to defend on a flat-track.
After India lost Rohit Sharma cheaply, the innings was given shape by a 129-run partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli. Dhawan was sent back in the 30th over, but Virat went on to score his second World Cup century. The Indian innings finished on a high as Suresh Raina contributed with a 56-ball 74 as the Men in Blue put up 300/7 from 50 overs.
Chasing a mammoth total, Pakistan lost Younis Khan cheaply with the score on 11. Ahmed Shehzad and Haris Sohail put up 68 for the second wicket until both were removed in a space of six overs. Misbah-ul-Haq's 76 was the only other score of importance as Pakistan was skittled out for just 224, courtesy of Mohammad Shami's incisive four-wicket haul.
