The St. George's Park of Elizabeth hosted the iconic match between arch-rivals England and Australia in the 2003 World Cup. While the fans had their eyes on the likes of Michael Vaughan, Andrew Flintoff, Ricky Ponting and Glenn McGrath, Andy Bichel emerged as the unlikely hero as he single-handedly won the match for Australia.

English captain Nasser Hussain won the toss and opted to bat first. Nick Knight and Marcus Trescothick put up 66 runs for the first wicket before McGrath sent the latter back. Andy Bichel then came into the attack and derailed the English innings as he dismissed 7 English batsmen in his 10-over spell.

Bichel had figures of 10-0-20-7 in an innings where the opposition team posted a total of 204/8 on the board.

Bichel's day did not end here as later in the second innings, he played a superb knock of 34 runs to guide his team home in the final over. Michael Bevan too remained unbeaten on 74 as Australia defeated England by 2 wickets in the cliffhanger.
