India’s Test skipper and Mr. Dependable in the limited overs format, Virat Kohli is celebrating his 28th birthday today and wishes have been pouring in from his teammates and the cricket fraternity.
In his brief international career, Kohli has won India a lot of matches and has given the Indian cricket fans a lot of moments to cherish. Ever since making his international debut in 2008, Kohli has not stopped dominating the bowlers and scoring runs all over the world. He is on his way to becoming one of the legends of the game.
Virat Kohli’s birthday celebration
Kohli is one of the very few players who has the ability to do well in all three formats of the game. In the 48 Tests he played for India, the Delhi-lad scored 3554 runs at an average of 45.56 with a personal best of 211. In the ODI format, his numbers are second to none as the Indian Test skipper has accumulated 7570 runs from 169 innings at an impressive average of 52.93. It won’t be a surprise if his T20I batting average becomes Virat Kohli-esque as he is scoring runs (1657 runs in 41 innings) at an average of 57.13 and a strike-rate of over 135.
His unbeaten 133 against his favorite opposition, Sri Lanka at Hobart, 183 against Pakistan at Mirpur, 89* in a T20I against the Aussies at Mohali and 141 against the Aussies at Adelaide are some of his most memorable knocks. With age on his side, we can expect a lot more to come from the bat of Virat Kohli.
