CV of Sachin Tendulkar that got him Bharat Ratna

On a bright Tuesday morning at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Sachin Tendulkar added 2 more records to his already colossal tally. Tendulkar became the first sportsperson and the youngest ever to be bestowed with the Bharat Ratna, the Republic of India’s highest civilian honour.

The decision to confer the award on arguably India’s greatest ever batsman came about on November 14th,2013, the first day of what was to be Sachin’s last test match.

The Prime Minister’s Office(PMO) wrote to the Sports Ministry asking for a bio-data of Tendulkar to be sent. The Sports Ministry duly obliged and sent the bio-data on the same day. On November 16th,2013, the decision to honour Sachin with the Bharat Ratna was announced.
