For India’s tour of England, starting 26th June, Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Sunil Dev has been named as the manager of the Indian cricket team. This post was last held by Brijesh Patel, the Karnataka State Cricket Association secretary, during India’s last international assignment – the World T20 in Bangladesh.
Prior to this assignment, Dev has held this responsibility twice – once during the 1996/97 tour of South Africa, and then during 2007 World T20 in the same country where India won the title. He was the administrative head of the team in 2007 World T20, where Lalchand Rajput was appointed the coach of the squad.
India are set to play 2 warm-up matches in England starting 26th June, prior to the Test series which spans from 9th July – 19th August. A 5-match ODI series is scheduled from 25th August to 5th September, followed by a lone Twenty20 international on 7th September.
For the Bangladesh 3-match ODI series in mid-June, former Andhra Pradesh Ranji Trophy player and current member of Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) Satya Prasad Yachendra has been appointed the manager of the young squad which is being led by Suresh Raina in absence of the other heavyweights. The likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been rested for the short series.
Raina-led India will face Bangladesh, led by Mushfiqur Rahim in 3 ODIs on 15th, 17th and 19th June in Mirpur.
