Dead match abandondoned due to live pitch!

It was a pitch fiasco. It is all politics . Its because of DDCA. It is BCCI’s apathy towards cricket. First Kolkatta & now Delhi.List of comments goes on from group of my friends who come dejected after witnessing a abandoned match .Reason for dejection becomes more when this abandonment is not caused by natural reasons. Final ODI between India & srilanka was called off as pitch was too dangerous to bat on.

It was bit surprising that it took nearly 23 overs to decide for calling off match. All the SL batsmen specially Dilshan & Jayasuriya already had suffered some seroius blows even in very early stages of match. Infact Dilshan once received medical attention before resuming play. Debutant Tyagi found surprisingly that he was unplayable.After a ball from a good length took off, Dhoni couldn’t believe the new lad was so ferocious despite coming on so late in the innings.While definitely there will occur a series of blame game , a typical post analysis of this incident and most expectantly some scapegoats would be found. But national prestige has already been compromised. Although it would be no wonder even if BCCI layed down a proper pitch full of currency notes then why this . Probably because Cricket, like all other sports in India is managed by those who can’t tell difference between a legspinner from offspinner.When Sunil Gavaskar just by looking the pitch in morning can said that it is not a good pitch at all, then why had curator and other concerned didn’t able to check this even when they have full 2 months to prepare & test the pitch. It seems now that the lack of accountability is the most evil scourge of India. Syndrome has engulfed every sphere of governance, administration, even in the private sector.

With World Cup & CommonWealth Games approaching fast incidents like this brings me, and I am sure every sports lover of the country, to the question of our ability to organize such international events. If we cannot manage Cricket which is hailed as national religion and on whose boards enjoys billions on moolah, what hope can other sports have?
