Prithvi Shaw named in Mumbai's squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
India opener Prithvi Shaw is set to return to action after spending almost three months in an injury-enforced hiatus from cricket. The 19-year-old batsman has been included in Mumbai's squad for the upcoming edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Shaw had suffered an ankle injury during the warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI in November 2018. He was subsequently ruled out of the entire Australia tour and went on to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation process.
India's Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane leads a strong Mumbai squad for the Twenty20 tournament. Aside from Rahane and Shaw, the squad contains three other nationally capped players in Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer and Dhawal Kulkarni.
Mumbai begin their campaign against Sikkim on February 21 at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore.
Mumbai Squad: Ajinkya Rahane (c), Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Dhawal Kulkarni, Siddhesh Lad, Aditya Tare, Suryakumar Yadav, Akash Parkar, Eknath Kerkar, Dhrumil Matkar, Shams Mulani, Shubham Ranjane, Tushar Deshpande and Royston Dias
