Joe Root is one of the finest test players of the present era. Root has scored 5915 runs in 68 tests with an average of 51.89 including 13 centuries and 40 half-centuries.

He can be a nightmare to the opposition bowlers when he is on his own. He was not impressive in the last match as he played a careless shot that saw him get dismissed for four in the first inning.

Root did score 68 in the second inning but that came very late. Being the captain of the English side, he has to perform for his team which is already 0-1 down in the series.
