Despite being in India's squad since the 1st test, Ravindra Jadeja has been the only player who has not been picked by Kohli in the playing XI in the series so far. Even in the 2nd test match, Kuldeep Yadav was picked ahead of him. Hence, Jadeja needs a chance to prove to the selectors that he deserves to play in the Indian test team.

His teammate Ashwin has had a relatively good series so far. Despite this, he failed to take wickets on a turning pitch in Southampton, which was successfully exploited by Moeen Ali to rip apart the Indian batting order.

Jadeja can also contribute with the bat in the lower order which the Indian team have lacked so far in the series. Hence, Ashwin should be rested in the final test and Jadeja should take place.
