In the absence of Wriddhiman Saha, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant were named in the squad for the first three games. Karthik was given the first preference but failed with the bat and the team management decided to take a punt with Pant for the crucial third Test. The youngster did well with both bat and gloves and made sure that he will retain his place in the XI for the last two matches.

Hardik Pandya silenced his critics by playing well throughout the series as he looked good with the bat and with the ball, he laid the foundation stone for India's win in the third Test.

All the three names are likely to feature in the squad for the last two games.
