Being the vice-captain of the team, Ajinkya Rahane was quite awful in the Test series against England. In England, he was expected to be one of the leaders with the bat for India. However, he was only the fourth highest run-getter for the visitors - 257 runs in five matches at 25.70 and two half-centuries.

He has a brilliant record playing in overseas condition but this time apart from the 81 in the first innings of the third Test and a fighting 51 in the last innings of the fourth Test, Rahane looked flat in the series. His overseas batting average was 55 until last year, but he has not been impressive in last one year, as a result, his average dropped significantly.
