#4. Poor performances by Mark Stoneman, Joe Root and Dawid Malan
England needed a good performance from their first four batsmen to set a good base. Three of those four players just failed to deliver, namely Mark Stoneman, Joe Root and Dawid Malan.
Stoneman, who played a couple of decent knocks against New Zealand a few months back, hit a boundary but that was all he scored as he was bowled by a brilliant delivery from Mohammad Abbas.
Root was batting pretty calmly and managed to garner four runs before nicking a Hasan Ali delivery straight to the keeper.
Dawid Malan began well with a boundary but he departed shortly after thanks to a safe catch by keeper Sarfraz Ahmed.
Root, Stoneman and Malan will have to come up with much better performances in the second innings if England are to get a positive result from this match.
