The defending champions looked started well, winning three of their first four matches. But then a series of defeats in the next five games sucked the momentum out and Deccan Chargers headed towards an early exit.
However, the team once again rose to the occasion and played a brand of inspiring cricket to win their last five matches. They eventually entered the semi-finals but were defeated by CSK.
