Faf du Plessis’ Salary and Contract

Francois du Plessis is a former South African cricketer who has captained the South African men’s national cricket team across all formats of international cricket. He is primarily a right-handed batter who usually opens the scoring for the team. He is considered to be one of the greatest South African captains in its cricketing history. He is also the first South African to score centuries in all formats of the game. He announced his Test retirement in 2021. du Plessis was the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2024.

Faf du Plessis’s salary stems from global franchise cricket leagues. He earned a lucrative deal from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024. As of 2024, the South African is no longer part of the South African setup in international cricket.

Faf du Plessis IPL Salary

According to IPL’s official website, Faf du Plessis signed his maiden IPL deal with the Chennai Super Kings for USD 120,000 in IPL 2011. du Plessis received an IPL salary of INR 4.75 crore since IPL 2014 from the Super Kings. The now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) drafted him into the squad for the same price in IPL 2016, when Super Kings was banned from the IPL for two years. He was paid INR 4 crore in the next season. According to the official website of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) bid him for INR 1.6 crores, but CSK availed the right-to-match card for the same price in the IPL 2018 mega auction.

In the IPL 2022 mega auction, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) signed him for INR 7 crores.

Faf du Plessis Contract 2024

Faf du Plessis had signed a Kolpak deal with Lancashire in 2007. He was not drafted into the annual contract list by the CSA in 2021. According to the official website of the Olympics, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru has not retained du Plessis for the IPL 2025 season.

Faf du Plessis South African Team Contract

Ahead of the 2021-22 season, Cricket South Africa excluded Faf du Plessis from the annual contract for the subsequent international year. He announced his Test retirement to focus on limited-overs internationals, but CSA has looked past him, especially in ICC tournaments. According to CSA’s official website, he has not been included in the South African squad for the 2024/25 season.

Faf du Plessis IPL Contract

According to IPL’s official website, Faf du Plessis was signed by the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2011 auction. After spending half a decade at the CSK camp, the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant drafted him into their squad, after the Super Kings were handed over a two-year suspension due to betting charges. The Super Kings availed the RTM card to pouch du Plessis in IPL 2018. He was released by the franchise and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) signed a deal with him and appointed him the skipper of the franchise. After spending three seasons with the Royal Challengers, the franchise released him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, as per reports from the official website of the Olympics.

Faf du Plessis T20 League Contract

The Johannesburg Super Kings signed a contract with Faf du Plessis for the inaugural edition of the SA20 in 2022. The Perth Scorchers signed du Plessis for the remainder of the Big Bash League in 2022-23.
