The Indian Premier League started with some of the most exciting matches being played in the first week itself. The league is proving to be one of the most exciting over the years, mainly due to the reshuffled teams and the return of the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals.
With every passing season, the craze for the fantasy games has been on a rise not only because it offers big prizes, but also because it makes the game more exciting to watch. All-rounders have been one of the biggest point earners in the fantasy games mainly due to their double role of both as a batsman and a bowler.
After 10 days of the IPL, the fantasy potential of most of the players can be derived and here are the 5 all-rounders who can't be risked leaving out of the fantasy teams:
#5 Andre Russell
Andre Russell, the West Indian who was has been one of the most valuable players in the IPL was retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders and is proving his worth. Although he has not been able to do much with the ball he is looking in fine form with the bat.
In the first two games of the season, he looked furious scoring 103 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 219.14. In the game against Chennai Super Kings, he played a thunderous inning of 88 runs off 36 balls with the help of 11 huge sixes.
He failed in both the departments against the Sunrisers Hyderabad's bowling attack, but that was a rare failure and he came back strong against the Delhi Daredevils, scoring a 42 off 12 balls.
In the fantasy games, his phenomenal strike rate is a plus point in addition to the number of runs he scores. One cannot simply afford to leave Russell out of the fantasy teams throughout the season and he is surely going to emerge as one of the most valuable players this season.
#4 Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo, the West Indian all-rounder is looking dangerous with the bat in this season. He has batted in all the matches for the Chennai Super Kings so far and has looked in good touch, hitting the ball hard and clean in both the initial matches.
With Chennai Super Kings batting lineup lacking depth it is certain that Bravo will get to bat in most of the matches. In the initial two matches, he scored 79 runs at a strike rate of 225.71. In the first match of the season itself, he scored 68 off 30 balls, hitting 7 monstrous sixes.
Though he has not been able to deliver with the ball, it is still early to judge him as a bowler. He has delivered in the past as a bowler and will surely find his rhythm soon. Bravo can't be risked to be left out of the fantasy teams on Chennai Super Kings' match days.
#3 Shane Watson
Shane Watson, the Australian, has been the best all-rounder so far in this season. He has impressed both with the ball and the bat. Watson has been clinical in both Chennai Super Kings victories.
The decision to promote him as an opener has turned out to be a positive for the team. Watson has scored 69 runs in the 3 matches at a strike rate of 164.28. His strike rate is what fetches additional fantasy points.
He has been effective with the ball as well, taking 5 wickets in 3 matches at an economy of 8.30. Watson's promotion as an opener is one of the main reasons that increases his fantasy potential.
#2 Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine, the mystery spinner from West Indies has been put in the all-rounder's slot in the fantasy leagues this year. Narine was promoted as a batsman in the IPL last year and following the successful experiment, he has now been given the 'all-rounder' tag.
Narine who opens the innings for Kolkata Knight Riders as a pinch-hitter has been successful on most of the occasions. Even though if he doesn't score many runs, his strike rate is what fetches an additional number of points. Moreover, he has been successful in picking one or two wickets every game.
In the 4 matches so far, he has scored 72 runs at a strike rate of 194.59 and has taken 7 wickets at an economy of 5.46.
Sunil Narine is a must-have player in the fantasy teams on Kolkata Knight Riders' match days and it's a win-win situation for the fantasy players to have him in the team.
#1 Krunal Pandya
Krunal Pandya, the elder of the Pandya brothers has been one of the most valuable players in the IPL over the previous seasons. Mumbai Indians used their Right to Match card to retain him for a whopping Rs. 8.8 crore. The massive amount they spend for him is enough to define his capabilities.
Pandya has been in red-hot form right from the first match this season shining both with the ball and the bat. In the 4 matches so far he has scored 82 runs at a strike rate of 151.85 and has taken 5 wickets at an impressive economy of 6.55.
Krunal Pandya comes before Hardik Pandya in the batting lineup and thus he has a greater fantasy potential than his brother.
