Indian batter Ishan Kishan holds the record of scoring the fastest double-hundred (200 runs) in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
On December 10, Ishan shattered the record of the fastest batter to score 200 runs during the third ODI match between India and Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
Kishan had replaced India's regular captain Rohit Sharma in the third ODI after the latter suffered a finger injury. Kishan pipped Punjab opener Shubman Gill to open the innings with Shikhar Dhawan.
Dhawan was trapped for leg-before wicket by Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the fifth over of the Indian innings. Howver, Ishan was in a complete mood of destruction and so he went after the Bangladesh bowlers.
He smashed the likes of Ebadot Hossain, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz in an exhibition of masterclass batting. He reached his fifty in 49 balls and took another 36 balls to attain his maiden three-figure mark in the 50-over format.
The most intriguing part of Ishan Kishan's phenomenal innings was the quick conversion rate of his century to 150 in just 18 balls.
Kishan was quick to record the fastest double-hundred in ODI cricket in 126 balls, breaking Chris Gayle's record of achieving the milestone in 138 balls against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup.
Kishan's splendorous innings ended at 210 off 131 balls at a strike rate of 160.31, including 24 boundaries and 10 sixes.
Ishan became the fourth Indian player and seventh overall to score a double-hundred in ODI cricket. He joined Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma in attaining the feat. Rohit is the only player to score three double centuries in the history of the format.
