Opening batsman Fawad Alam and pace spear head Wahab Riaz are all set to make a comeback to the Pakistani Test squad reported ESPNcricinfo. Fawad Alam who hasn’t played a match since November 2009, has received a call up for the Pakistan squad to play England, after putting up some spirited performances in the domestic season. Alam is all set to end his five year hiatus if he is picked for the first Test against England.
Over a period of the last 12 months Alam has scored two centuries and five fifties with a highest of 204 in 14 innings. Besides his addition, Pakistan have also received a huge boost in the fast bowling department with Wahab Riaz coming back into the squad. He has recovered right in time from a hand injury which he sustained during the tour of Sri Lanka.
Junaid Khan, Imran Khan and Rahat Ali will be part of the pace department along with Riaz, and only Yasir Shah and Zulfiqar Babar will be the spin options for the tour.
The PCB also announced the squads to tour Zimbabwe later in September, for which Sohaib Maqsood has been picked after successfully recovering from injury. Uncapped fast bowler Imran Khan Jr and all rounder Aamed Yamin are part of the 14 men chosen to play the T20s in the African subcontinent.
