Mohammad Azharuddin has to be the first player to play the helicopter shot which he played long back in 1996 against South Africa at Eden Gardens. In this innings, he scored the fastest century by an Indian in Tests. He hit Lance Klusener for five consecutive fours, one of those being the helicopter shot.
