The most recent entrants into the Test match circuit- Ireland created history by becoming the 11th Test team to become a full-time Test playing nation. They soon will be joined by Afghanistan who will mark their inroad into Test cricket, in yet another show of their improvement as a cricketing nation when they take on India at Bengaluru.

Ireland faced Pakistan in their first ever Test match at Malhide. They gave a very good account of themselves, pushing Pakistan really close, as they didn’t allow it to be a lopsided affair.

What tops of this monumental occasion for Ireland was the fact that their all-rounder Kevin O'Brien notched his and his country’s first Test century in this game. He went on to score 118 after his team was asked to follow-on in pace-friendly conditions.

His century will be remembered for a long time, as its knocks like this which gives renewed hope that no matter what Test Cricket will, and always be a force to reckon with.
