Followers of Mumbai cricket have been observing this young man since his school cricketing days; followers of Indian cricket have been observing him since his ton on Ranji Trophy debut in 2016; however, it is this year that the eyes of the world turned towards this young man.

At the start of the year, he captained the India U-19 to an emphatic Under-19 World Cup victory, and was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL auction. In the IPL, he showcased his eye-catching strokeplay and performed against the best in the world. Finally, based on his heroics in the IPL, run-making in domestic and 'A' cricket, and immense potential, he was handed his Test debut in Rajkot.
