The Women’s Hundred 2024 is all set to kick off on Tuesday, July 23. After successful three seasons, the England Cricket Board (ECB) will organize the fourth edition from July 23 to August 18.
A total of eight teams will participate in the Women’s Hundred 2024. The league stage comprises 32 matches, followed by two knockout fixtures. The competition will be played across eight venues across England and Wales.
The London Spirit didn’t have the best of seasons last year. They managed to win only two games out of eight and lost two and failed to qualify for the knockout stage. The side finished sixth and will certainly be looking to put in a much-improved performance in the upcoming edition.
England skipper Heather Knight is expected to lead London Spirit in the Women’s Hundred 2024. Ashley Noffke will be the head coach and they have a well-balanced squad. Knight and Meg Lanning have plenty of experience at the highest level and will play a huge role for the Spirit Women.
Deepti Sharma, Danielle Gibson and Charlie Dean are the all-rounders in the side and they have done well for their respective national sides. Erin Burns will be replacing Deepti for the first two games of this season.
The bowling department comprises Tara Norris, Sophie Munro and Sarah Glenn. Glenn had a stellar home summer with the ball in hand and will be leading the spin attack for the Spirit Women.
The likes of Sophie Munro, Hannah Jones, Eva Gray and Cordelia Griffith have done well in the domestic circuit. Their contributions will be crucial for the Spirit franchise who are eyeing their first title.
Abbey Freeborn impressed everyone in last year’s Hundred. She is an exciting player and plays fearless cricket and will be looking to take down the opposition with her stroke play.
The London Spirit will face the defending champions the Southern Brave in their opening game on July 24. The Rose Bowl in Southampton will host this exciting clash on Wednesday.
