Rising Pune Supergiants
After finishing second from bottom of the IPL in their maiden season last year, it wasn't a surprise to see that Rising Pune Supergiants released the most players ahead of the auction. While the omission of Kevin Pietersen was surprising, the fact that he ruled himself out of contention for this year’s tournament means the right call was made after all.
With a strong batting line-up that features some quality overseas players, it is in the bowling and all-rounder department that MS Dhoni’s side will need to make a move for. Especially considering the fact that seven of the 11 players that they released provided an option with the ball.

Released players: Kevin Pietersen, Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Thisara Perera, RP Singh, Scott Boland, Murugan Ashwin, Peter Handscomb, Saurabh Tiwary, Albie Morkel, George Bailey.
