Full list of Salem Spartans players for TNPL 2024 ft. Shijit Chandran and Robin Bist

Salem Spartans are a team in TNPL 2024. The tournament is scheduled to start on Friday, July 5, and will conclude on Sunday, August 4. A total of eight teams will feature in this edition of the tournament.

The Spartans made their debut in TNPL in 2021 and have not been able to make it to the playoffs. They won two out of seven matches last season to finish in seventh place.

The Spartans shelled out INR 1 lakh to purchase the services of Shijit Chandran in the TNPL 2024 auction. He has been appointed the captain of the side. The 37-year-old all-rounder last played in TNPL in 2022 and was a part of Lyca Kovai Kings. Chandran has made 729 runs in 35 matches at an average of 22.1 and has two half-centuries to his name.

The Spartans made an interesting move at the auction table, buying Robin Bist for INR 2 lakh. Bist, who coached the Spartans last season, has played over 100 first-class matches and was the leading run-scorer in the 2011–12 Ranji Trophy while playing for Rajasthan. It will be a comeback for Bist, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in January last year.

They shelled out INR 15.4 lakh for Harish Kumar S. He has picked up 59 wickets in TNPL so far in 52 matches at an economy of 7.98.

Vivek R was their second-most expensive purchase during the auction, costing INR 11 lakh. He has amassed a total of 983 runs in 48 matches in TNPL so far at a strike rate of 167.2.

The Spartans will start their journey this season in the third match against Siechem Madurai Panthers on Saturday, July 6.
