Rajasthan Royals spinner Harmeet Singh has been suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, pending an inquiry into his alleged role in the spot-fixing scandal.

Harmeet will be questioned by Ravi Sawani, head of BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit. The left-arm spinner was roped in by the Royals for the sixth season of the Indian Premier League.

Harmeet recorded his statement on Thursday before a court in Delhi after Police decided to make him a prosecution witness, strengthening their case against three Royals cricketers including one-time India international S Sreesanth in the spot-fixing scandal.

During the investigation, Harmeet revealed that bookies had asked Ajit Chandila to lure Australian cricketer Shane Watson to fix game. Chandila, though, did not implement the plan, telling the bookies that it would be difficult to get Watson to fix.
