In next 5 years, India is expected to play 130 ODIs. Assuming he will miss 15% of the games due to rest or other reasons, he is estimated to play 110 of those. At his current average of 55.74, he is expected to score 6,131 more runs. Hence after 5 years, he is likely to end up on 15,161 runs, which make him the second highest run-scorer, going past Kumar Sangakkara’s tally of 14,234 and only behind Tendulkar's feat of 18426 runs.

Kohli has already surpassed former Captain Mohammad Azharuddin.
