Cricketers talking about cricket is nothing new. But it certainly is surprising when a retired cricketer talks about a game that doesn’t involve his country, specially at a time when his country is on the cusp of scripting a historic chapter in the sport.
Michael Clarke has been a busy man since his retirement from cricket after the 3-2 Ashes defeat. When he is not comparing his former coach to his dog or giving golfing advice to the world’s No. 1 golfer, he discusses Indian cricket.
During the third Test between India and South Africa in Nagpur, where South Africa collapsed for 79 in response to India’s 215, Clarke took to Twitter to express his opinion about the Nagpur pitch.
The former Australian captain’s teammates, Matthew Hayden and Glenn Maxwell, had already taken to social media to express their disapproval of the pitches being prepared in India for the ongoing India-South Africa Test series.
After Clarke had voiced his opinion on his ideal test pitch, former South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs joined in on the conversation.
