This incident took place when Deccan Chargers took on Pune Warriors India in the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League. DC won the match and electing to bat first, quickly found themselves in trouble at 23/2 in 4.4 overs. It was all left to T20 veteran Cameron White and legendary Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara to rescue their team.

The duo put on an incredible partnership of 157 runs which consisted of 14 fours and six sixes to save their team from an embarrassing defeat. The ball was dispatched to nearly every part of the ground as Cameron White scored 74 from 45 balls while Sangakkara scored 82 from 52 balls. They helped their team put on a total of 186/4 in 20 overs.

In return, Pune Warriors India put on a solid fightback before ultimately losing the match by just 13 runs. Kumar Sangakkara was awarded the man of the match for his incredible performance.
