Arguably, India's most equipped batsman in overseas conditions, Dravid used to play the ball very late and his footwork was also excellent. His feet used to get stuck in the crease very rarely as he was always either on back-foot or on front-foot.

Dravid was the lynchpin of Indian batting during 2003-04 Australian series. He scored a double hundred in Adelaide test match and won the match for India. India drew the series 1-1, which was a great achievement considering India's previous record in Australia.

During the series, Dravid scored 619 runs in 8 innings at an outstanding average of 123.80 with one century and three fifties.

During the series, Laxman scored 494 runs in 7 innings at an average of 82.33 with two centuries and one fifty.
