Mumbai, April 11 (IANS)

Ahead of the match against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday, Mumbai Indians' all-rounder Corey Anderson said the team needs to rectify the errors they made against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) opener on Wednesday.

Despite skipper Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 98, the 2013 IPL champions lost by seven wickets to KKR at the Eden Gardens.

“We missed out on a couple of chances against KKR. We hope to rectify those errors we did against them in Sunday's match,” Anderson said at the press conference ahead of the match at the Wankhede Stadium.

Home side Mumbai Indians underwent a practice session on Saturday ahead of their tie against Kings XI. Each and every member of the squad was present for the net session.

Asked about his unbeaten half-century against KKR, the New Zealand all-rounder said, “It was good to get runs on the board at the start of the season. It's a good thing to score in the first match.”

“We thought 168 was a competitive score, but KKR played brilliantly,” he said.

Mumbai Indians starting from skipper Rohit Sharma to Kieron Pollard to Ambati Rayudu all sweated themselves out at the nets. Striking the ball a far distance, the squad looked in good spirits ahead of their second match of the season.

Pacers Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan and medium pacer R Vinay Kumar – all bowled for quality time.

With team's Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood opting out of IPL to keep himself fresh for upcoming West Indies and Ashes tour, Anderson said it was unfortunate but there are a lot of guys who can replace him.
