Sachin and Anjali truly defined love at first sight when they saw each other in the Mumbai International Airport in 1990; Sachin was returning from his first international tour in 1990 whereas Anjali was there to receive her mother. Later, they also met at a common friend's place and got familiar with each other.

As Anjali was a dedicated medical student, her knowledge about cricket and sports was faint, due to which she failed to recognize even Sachin Tendulkar. When they started dating with each other, Anjali did her best to improve her knowledge about cricket. They even went to watch the film 'Roza' together, where Sachin got disguised with false beard and specs to hide from the media. But he was soon caught by his fans after his specs fell in the hall, due to which he had to leave the movie halfway.

In Sachin's autobiography 'Playing It My Way', Anjali revealed that she had visited Sachin's house for the first time as a journalist.

The two finally married on 24 May 1995 after five years of dating. They have been committed towards each other for 23 years now and also have two children, Arjun and Sara.
