ICC Champions Trophy 2017: Sri Lanka vs Pakistan, 5 things that went wrong for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka were knocked out of the Champions Trophy after a close defeat to Pakistan

#1 Sloppy fielding

Sarfraz Ahmed
Sri Lanka were horrific in the field

Sri Lanka are known to be a good fielding side but what they did today in the field will haunt them in the days to come. It all started in the first over itself as Danushka Gunathilaka dropped Azhar Ali. He then missed a simple run out chance and the opener received two lives before finally being dismissed.

Pakistan's match winner, Sarfraz Ahmed, was dropped twice during the business end of the innings and he was also saved from a run out by poor throws on three different occasions. Lanka also committed a number of fumbles and shockingly gave away close to 10 runs from overthrows. It is safe to say that it was their fielders that let them down more than their batsmen and cost them a place in the semis.
