
After a nearly eight-year hiatus, the ICC Champions Trophy is back. The ninth edition of the marquee tournament will take place in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates from February 19, 2025, to March 9, 2025.
The Three Lions will look to win their maiden Champions Trophy this year. They previously reached the finals of the 2004 and the 2013 editions, losing to the West Indies and India, respectively.
England’s Squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
The England & Wales Cricket Board has announced a 14-man squad for the ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy.
Led by wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler, the English squad consists of Joe Root, Tom Banton, Ben Duckett, Phil Salt, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jamie Overton, Saqib Mahmood, and Brydon Carse.
The Jos Buttler-led unit has been slotted in Group B alongside Ashes foes Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan. England will open their campaign against the Aussies at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore on February 22, 2025. Four days later, Jos Buttler and Co. will battle Afghanistan at the same venue. Notably, the Afghans picked up a famous victory over England in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
England’s final group-stage game will be against South Africa on March 1, 2025. The match will be played at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Batsmen
The batting department will be led by captain Jos Buttler. Left-handed batsman Ben Duckett will lead the charge at the top of the order, while Joe Root is expected to provide stability in the middle order. Harry Brook too, will contribute to the middle order.
Somerset batsman Tom Banton has also been added to the squad as Jacob Bethell’s replacement. Bethell suffered a hamstring injury during England’s white-ball tour of India.
Wicketkeepers
Captain Jos Buttler is the first-choice wicketkeeper in the squad. Phil Salt is also in the squad and is likely to slot in at the top of the order alongside Ben Duckett. Surrey wicketkeeper-batsman Jamie Smith has also been included in the squad as a backup.
All-Rounders
Liam Livingstone and Jamie Overton are the batting and bowling all-rounders in England’s squad.
Bowlers
Veteran wrist spinner Adil Rashid will again lead the spin-bowling department. The pace arena will be spearheaded by the duo of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood. They will be supported by Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, and Saqib Mahmood. Jamie Overton has also been picked as a backup seamer.
