Shashikala Siriwardene struggled to find her feet

Shashikala Siriwardene is considered a bowler who can bat a bit. At 32 years of age, she has been a stalwart for Sri Lankan cricket for several years. She is the all-time highest wicket taker for Sri Lanka with 108 wickets in 100 One Day Internationals.

However, during the tournament, she couldn’t quite replicate the same form she has displayed on so many occasions for the Lankans. While she performed decently with the bat in hand, she struggled with her off-breaks.

In seven games, she only managed to churn out a couple of wickets at a dismal bowling average of 123.50. Sri Lanka pinned their hopes on her, but she couldn’t deliver. As a result, Sri Lanka ended with just one win, finishing one place above bottom-ranked Pakistan.
