Bihar break Vijay Hazare Trophy record
Bihar created Vijay Hazare Trophy history after their 292-run demolition of Sikkim on Sunday. Their margin of victory is the biggest in terms of runs in the tournament, eclipsing the previous record of 279 held by Baroda, courtesy of their win over Assam.
The victory was achieved on the back of a splendid 152 from MD Rahmatullah and 92 from Babul Kumar. Although Rahmatullah had to retire hurt after his 103-ball 152, he had already done enough as Bihar posted 338/6.
Chasing a massive 339 for victory, Sikkim simply fell like a pack of cards and unfortunately were on the wrong end of an all-time record. Just two Sikkim batsmen even managed to get to double digits as they were bowled out for 46 in 31 overs. Anunay Singh and Keshav Kumar both finished with a three-wicket haul.
In the history of List-A cricket, only six teams have managed to win by a bigger margin than Bihar's 292-run victory.
