We all knew that MS Dhoni is a multi-talented sportsman as apart from being one of India’s greatest cricketers, he is also pretty good on the football field having played the sport in his younger days. But as it turns out, his sporting skills extend to the badminton court as well.

Dhoni, who is in Bangalore for the CLT20, was training along with his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team-mates at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday evening. They were interrupted by rain, however, but as the skies cleared shortly after, a few players took part in a game of football while some players headed to the nets for cricket practice.

Dhoni, meanwhile, headed to the indoor badminton courts at the stadium and played a few doubles matches with some of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) members and officials that were already present at the court.

And Dhoni was seen at his best as he sent down a couple of smashes, much to the delight of the small crowd that had gathered to watch the Indian captain playing badminton.

One of the KSCA officials said that Dhoni enjoys playing badminton and plays a game or two whenever he is present at the stadium. "Whenever he is at the stadium, he plays badminton," he told thatscricket.com.

Dhoni had, in fact, spoken last year during a promotional event in Delhi about how he prefers playing badminton to maintain his fitness and improve his footwork as opposed to sweating it out in the gym.

"I am not a big gym fan. It has been quite a long break and I have not yet initiated weight training. I want the body to recover fully and there is still a month to go before I play in the CLT20. So I have been playing a lot of badminton over the last week. It not only helps improve eyesight, but also the footwork," he had revealed.

Dhoni & co. will be in the Garden City till September 27 as CSK play their next three matches – against Dolphins, Lahore Lions and Perth Scorchers - in Bangalore before returning for the final on October 4 in case CSK make it.
