With the Indians having already landed in Australia for the practice matches, and only 10 days remaining for the start of the Test series which has been tagged as the “Agneepath series”. It seems that the Aussies may eek out a 2-1 win over India in the four-match series – with the Perth Test likely to be drawn, keeping in mind the wicket at Perth.
The Indians usually aren’t successful in their first match of each tour Down Under. They bid their time before getting into the groove. Thus it is expected that the Indians will lose their first match which is starting on Boxing Day.
At the end of Day I of the first practice match against CAXI which saw Indian bowlers struggling and Ishant Sharma leaving the field after only 5.3 overs, things aren’t looking much encouraging for the Indians. Thrashed by the likes of Cooper and Richardson, one wonders what lies ahead for the Indian pacers when they face Watson, Clarke, Ponting and Hussey.
The batsmen will also face stiff challenge against the likes of Pattinson, Peter Siddle and Lyon. Still, the Indians remain favourite as they are ranked higher than the Aussies who are placed at no. 4.
But the Australians will enjoy the home support and the lack of raw pace in the Indian attack will work to their advantage. The main threat for them will be the formidable Indian batting line-up. However, the Aussies will stand a good chance if they can send the top five to the pavilion in quick time. All these may ultimately turn the series 2-1 in favour of Australia.
So get ready for the Thunder Down Under….
