Virat Kohli seemed to question the leadership of the Indian team on the sidelines of the 3rd ODI between India and Bangladesh, just before the match was about to start. His comment adds fuel to the fire of questions surrounding MS Dhoni’s run as ODI captain.
While Ravichandran Ashwin had earlier put his weight behind his captain, Kohli said that the team have produced unsure displays on the field because of tentative decision-making.
“We have been doubtful in our decision-making and that shows on the field. I don't need to say this. Cricket watchers and experts can see that the guys are not sure enough to express themselves," Kohli said in a TV interview.
"Where we lacked in the first two games was not being able to express ourselves with clarity of mind," he added.
The 33-year-old Dhoni showed his characteristic calm under pressure in the 3rd ODI, scoring 69 off 77 balls, guiding India to the sizeable total of 317 – of which Bangladesh fell short by 77 runs.
Kohli himself managed 25 runs in the match, with his modest run with the bat this year increasingly being a worry for the team. His better performances of recent times have come in the Test arena, from which Dhoni has ruled himself out from the beginning of this year – a decision which had raised quite a few eyebrows in January.
