#3 - Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir's resilient innings of 97 in the final of the World Cup was surely special, and he was one of the unsung heroes of India's victory. However, despite his stellar showing in the World Cup of 2011, he was dropped from the Test side in 2012 and limited overs side in 2013.
While he did make brief comebacks to the Test side in 2014 and 2016, his international career never quite took off again, and it is highly likely that he will end his career playing domestic cricket.
In spite of his topsy-turvy international career, Gautam Gambhir remained a consistent performer in the IPL, leading the Kolkata Knight Riders till 2017. However, during IPL 2018, on his return to the Delhi Daredevils, he struggled to perform and eventually dropped himself from the side and handed over the captaincy duties to Shreyas Iyer. It remains to be seen whether he makes a comeback in the next edition of IPL.
