Dravid was the last of his kind. A Test cricketer through and through. To him, the pitch did not matter, neither did the opposition. Every time he came to bat, the bowlers knew they were in for a long, gruelling war of concentration and patience.

The fact that India is still searching for his replacement is a testament to his abilities. Dravid was a great batsman in his own right, but his biggest strength was making others around him better.
