#4 Mohammad Azharuddin
Mohammad Azharuddin is one of the most famous and elegant cricketers to ever play for India. But his involvement in the match fixing scandal in 2000 brought an abrupt end to a great career. Though he proved his innocence, the BCCI withdrew their life ban imposed on him only in 2012 and it was too late for him to play again. In Sachin's debut, he scored 35 runs in the 1st Innings and followed it up with another 35 and was the last man to be dismissed before the match ended. He has captained India in 47 Tests and was a very successful captain. He has scored 6215 runs in 99 Test averaging a solid 45.03 and in ODIs, he has scored a whopping 9378 runs in 334 matches averaging 39.30.
He won the Arjuna Award in 1986 and the Padma Shri in 1988. Another lesser known fact about him is that he won the Indian General Elections from Moradabad in UP and became an MP. After his term ended, he hasn't returned to politics. His biopic was made and highlighted the high and low points of his life and described his struggle to prove his innocence.
