Wicketkeeper and All-rounders: Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin / Ravindra Jadeja
The Indian team management has backed Hardik Pandya and they finally got rewarded as Pandya showcased his all-round abilities at Trent Bridge. He silenced all his critics with his performance. Pandya destroyed the England batting line-up by picking up his maiden five wickets haul in Test cricket. Then he backed it up with a fifty in India's second innings.
Rishabh Pant played some delightful shots in his short stay at the crease in the first innings. Even though he couldn't do much with the bat, Pant looked ready for Test cricket and will hold on to his place in the playing XI.
Ashwin injured himself during England's first innings and did not look comfortable while bowling throughout the match. If he fails to regain full fitness, India might bring Ravindra Jadeja in the playing XI. Jadeja has been on the sidelines for a long time now and his experience of playing in English conditions before might come in handy.
